About Nathan
Nathan is the lead pastor at Emmaus Church Community. The community was launched as he caught God's dream to create and lead a transformational community of compassion, a place where Christ-followers and spiritual seekers could share life and discover Jesus in a very real and authentic way. The dream locked into time when Nathan and his wife Carmen, with their children, accepted an invitation from their denomination to move to Lincoln, Ca in July of 2004.

Nathan has a strong desire to see the kingdom of God realized for the city of Lincoln, California. He is driven by a dependence on Jesus and a passion to see people experience real and authentic life transformation as they accept God's grace and peace and submit themselves to life-giving community. The majority of the songs written by Emmaus have been directly or indirectly shaped by him. His heart, his teachings, his relationship with God and his friendship with each artist speak life and light into the creative process. Each of these factors form the basis for his creative influence within the team of Emmaus artists and help allow God to inspire the community with songs of life, rescue and hope.
Songs
Wounded King

A good portion of lyrics for Wounded King were derived from a lament written by Nathan as he reached out for God's rescue on behalf of his son and family during a very difficult and trying season. He handed the lament over to Josh Unfried to be put to music. Josh was so moved, he couldn't help but complete the song of desperation with lyrical content that deals with the struggle of our own humanity. The song illustrates that despair can result from things that happen outside of our control and also from the outcome and effect of our own sin. No matter the circumstance, the cry for rescue and need for a Savior are the same.
